Privacy policy

1. Who we are

This policy explains how Ligum 18 (Pty) Ltd, trading as Ligum Fight Gear ("we", "us"), handles your personal information when you use this website or buy from us. We are the "responsible party" under the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA). Our address is 28 Hudson Street, De Waterkant, Cape Town, 8001. For anything about your personal information, email info@ligumfightgear.com.

2. What we collect

  • Your name, email address, phone number, and delivery and billing addresses.
  • Your order details, and anything you send us about a return, claim or query, including photographs.
  • Technical data such as your IP address, device and browser type, and how you use the site, collected through cookies.
  • Your marketing preferences, if you sign up to our emails.

Card payments are processed through PayGate or Peach Payments. We do not store your full card number or card security code in our order records. We receive payment confirmations and transaction details to process your order, reconcile payments and handle refunds or payment queries.

You choose whether to provide your information. We need the contact, delivery and payment information necessary to process and deliver your order. Without it, we cannot complete the order. Signing up for marketing is optional.

We collect information directly from you when you place an order or contact us. We also receive payment confirmations from our payment providers and delivery updates from our couriers.

3. Why we use it

  • To process, deliver and support your order, including returns, refunds and warranty claims.
  • To take payment and prevent fraud.
  • To keep the records the law requires, such as tax and accounting records.
  • To understand how the site is used and to advertise our products.
  • To send you marketing, but only if you have agreed to it.

4. Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We share the information needed to process and support your order, run our website, manage payments and provide the services described in this policy.

Providers that process information on our behalf must keep it confidential, protect it and use it for the agreed purposes. Some providers also process information for their own purposes, including fraud prevention, legal compliance and operating their payment or advertising services. Their privacy notices explain those uses.

5. Information sent outside South Africa

Some of our providers, including Shopify and Google, process information outside South Africa. We share information with them only as needed to provide the services described in this policy, and we handle these transfers in line with POPIA.

6. Marketing

We send marketing emails only if you sign up or otherwise agree. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link, and you can also email us to stop. We will still send you messages about your order.

7. Cookies and tracking

Cookies are small files stored on your device. We use essential cookies to run your cart and checkout. When you visit, analytics and advertising cookies and similar tools from Google and Shopify are also set, to measure how the site is used, to show you relevant adverts and to personalise your experience. They collect information such as your IP address, device and the pages you view.

We do not currently ask for your permission before these cookies are set. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but the cart and checkout may not work without the essential ones. You can manage personalised Google adverts in your Google account's ad settings. You can also email info@ligumfightgear.com to object to our use of your information for advertising.

8. How long we keep it

We keep personal information for as long as we need it to fulfil the purposes in this policy, including completing orders, handling returns and warranty claims, resolving disputes and meeting our legal record-keeping obligations. We delete or anonymise information when we no longer need or are entitled to retain it.

If you unsubscribe, we stop using your details to send marketing. We keep a limited record of your contact details and opt-out so that we can honour your choice. Unsubscribing does not delete order, tax, warranty or dispute records that we still need to keep.

9. Keeping it safe

We take reasonable steps to protect your information from loss, misuse and unauthorised access, and we use providers that do the same. If there is a security breach that affects you, we will tell you and the Information Regulator as the law requires.

10. Your rights

You may ask us to tell you what personal information we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, or to stop using it for marketing. You may also withdraw a consent you gave us. Email info@ligumfightgear.com with your request. We may need to confirm who you are first, and we may keep information we are legally required to keep.

You may also object, on reasonable grounds relating to your circumstances, to processing that is based on our legitimate interests.

Please contact us if you have a concern about your personal information. You may also complain directly to the Information Regulator at POPIAComplaints@inforegulator.org.za or visit inforegulator.org.za/complaints.

11. Children

This website is not directed at children. Anyone under 18 should ask a parent or guardian to place orders.

12. Changes
